Therapy with INTRON® A (Interferon alfa-2b, recombinant) for Injection is commonly associated with mild-to-moderate flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, joint pain, chills, and fatigue. These symptoms are typically most prominent at the start of therapy, and may lessen after the first few weeks.

Other frequently occurring side effects include loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, hair loss, irritability, depression, insomnia, and somnolence (sleepiness). As with other interferons, very infrequent reports of suicidal behavior (ideation, attempts, and completed suicides) have been associated with treatment.

However, some people have no side effects, and most others feel well enough to go to work and even travel during INTRON A therapy.
