The
PEG-INTRON® (Peginterferon alfa-2b)
Powder
for Injection REDIPEN® is the first and only pen delivery system
approved for administering pegylated interferon therapy for chronic
hepatitis
C. It's an easy-to-use alternative for those who may be intimidated by using
a
traditional vial and syringe.
PEG-INTRON® is indicated for use alone
or
in combination with REBETOL® (Ribavirin, USP) Capsules for the
treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus in patients at least 18 years of
age
with compensated liver disease who have not been previously treated with
interferon alpha. Ask your doctor whether the

The PEG-INTRON REDIPEN® is a
disposable
one-time use delivery system that allows you to administer
PEG-INTRON® in four easy
steps:
Mixing occurs by
pushing
down on the pen to combine the PEG-INTRON
powder
with sterile water, both stored in the pen
Attaching the small gauge,
self-priming needle in the PEG-INTRON
REDIPEN® means a self-priming action automatically removes air
bubbles
from the pen prior to administration.
Dialing allows you
to
accurately select your predetermined individualized weight-based dose by
turning the dosing button until the dosing button aligns with the dosing
tab's
solid line.
Delivery occurs by
pushing the dosing button completely and holding for five seconds. The
five-second period helps ensure that you inject the proper amount of
medication.
